Hey guyss!!!! so like i’ve said, i’m SOOOOO SUPER EXTREMELY SORRY for not updating as often, but as u know..school…so yeah I didn’t think i’d be this busy, but homework sucks and i have lots of extracurriculars :( I want to say thanks to my faithful readers, though. Your support means a lot to m :] thanks. So as the title and picture suggest, I’ll be reviewing the Saturn Necklace vs. the Star Necklace, as requested by mamae

So let’s begin. First, let talk about the meanings behind the these necklaces. We all know it’s a gift that Domyouji/Junpyo gives to Makino/Jandi as a gift, but why the pecliur designs. gee whiz, i don’t know! let’s find out!

In HYD, Domyouji randomly finds out that him and Makino are from “Saturn”. I suppose depending on ur birthday, you’re considered a planet or something…i’m not quite sure. But there’s a part when he’s writing the letter to makino in the last episode (which is where this cap was taken) and he says:

“According to the horoscope, we’re both from Saturn. Maybe it was our shared destiny to have all of those fun and difficult times together.”

Okay, and then in BBF…..i really have no idea why it was made this way. His explanation left me totally flustered as to why it’s a star and a moon. he says “Because Geum Jan Di is the moon, which can never escape from the Gu Jun Pyo star.”

…

Do moons really escape stars? and can stars really trap moons in and make them NOT move? iono, mby they can! mby i’m just totally clueless when it comes to astronomy, but that explanation just confused me. But it’s a pretty necklace :]

Alright, so now i’m going to get into the use of the necklace in season 2 of both dramas…

we’ll switch it up and start with BBF.

I think it’s so cute how Gu Jun Pyo put a J <3 J thing on the back of the necklace. And i love how this neecklace becomes like a clue for Jae Kyung. She finds it and then she’s like “who’s J and J” and yada yada yada you know the rest. And i also like how this necklace sort of becomes…a beacon of hope for jandi when junpyo is with jae kyung.

And there’s that last scene…

This scene definitely made me cry (i will talk more about the scene itself later) but in terms of the role the necklace plays, it’s very sad. it’s so heart breaking when gu jun pyo says:

“Why would I take something like this? If you want to throw it away then just do it yourself.”

so heartbreaking. and then the multiple times where she like dives into water to get this necklace is quite adorable too. It’ cuz it means THAT much to her.. so cute.

Alright, now on to HYD.

(i tried to find a screen cap where makino didn’t look like she was being choked to death, but that’s okay. if it wasn’t this, the captions woulda been in the way :/) But this scene is soooo EPIIICCCCC and the necklace is so cute cuz she’s like “thanks for this too”

And then there’s this scene where Makino gives Domyouji the necklace, meaning she wants to “break up” and then he throws it into the river and says “I DON’T WANT ANYBODY BUT YOU, MAKINO!” (<— soooooo cute). then she runs into a dirty disgusting creek WITH a skirt on (>_<) and gets it. because it’s that special to her :]

There also that scene (I think in ep 11) where Makino goes to visit Domyouji once he’s discharged and see’s Yumi at his house. So she walks in and Domyouji see’s her and he says “That necklace…” Makino gets all excited, thinking he’ll remember her…”It’s disgusting.” and then after she see’s yumi and domyouji talk with each other, she breaks down into tears and throws the necklace at him so sad. (sorry, i don’t have a screen cap for this!)

ahhh, i love that last screen cap anyways, this scene is also very cute, and once Domyouji remembers who Makino is, he pulls out the necklace and says “you’re the one who retrieved it [from the dirty, disgusting, filthy] river” (no, he didn’t say the part in brackets, i just wanted to add it in for fun XD But yeah, that scene was so kawaiiii. When Domyouji also has his memory lapses, the necklace serves as a clue to what he can’t remember and then once he figures out the truth, then the puzzle’s complete :]

Having said this…

Hana Yori Dango wins! I think the necklace in hyd had more of a role and impact than the necklace in bbf, especially in the second season. You’d always see Makino wear it when Domyouji lost his memory and such, and on Jandi, you couldn’t even tell that she was wearing it. oh, and also…

So this means the current standing in the HYD vs. BBF battle is 9 to 8. Once again I’M SO SORRY I HAVEN’T BEEN UPDATING! and unfortunately, i’m not sure how much time i’ll have to work on this. I really enjoy doing things like this in my free time…when i have free time (which isn’t too often…) lol. So sorry for keeping you guys waiting, and once again, thanks to you guys who’ve supported me :] it means a lot. HYD vs. BBF >>> Breakup Scene No.1

HEY GUYS!!! omg, i’m EXTREMELY sorry i haven’t updated in like 170982437 days. School started on Monday and i don’t get home until 5:30 cuz of sports and then i have music and blah blah blah…BASICALLY i’m extremely busy. But thank God for the weekend so that’s why i’m updating.

So basically in this post, i’m going to be reviewing the guy breakup scene. This is when Makino/Jandi travel a long distance just to see him and he rejects her T_T so heartbreaking. So lets start with the videos:

As usual, i couldn’t find just one part of hana yori dango and UNFORTUNEATELY this video is laggy :/ butttt something’s better than nothing, ne? The part i’m talking about starts at 14:39

And, as usual, i was able to find just the part i was looking for of BBF, so here ya go :] the part i’m talking about starts at 5:19

So i will start with Hana Yori Dango…

What’s up with the baseball field? is there supposed to be some sort of significance behind this? lol, i just found it kind of random and un-romantic. It’s not like “oh, i wanna talk with Domyouji…lets go to the baseball dimond!” I feel they were trying to be…American, possibly? And it’s definitely not realistic: a reunited couple can’t just wander onto a baseball dimond to break up.

At this point, i was like “WOO! YOU TELL HIM, MAKINO!” i think Domyouji was kinda flustered/confused as to why she recieved a red notice not issued by him. But i appreciate the fact that makino was sticking up for herself (well…what else can you expect? XD)

This part is kinda sad, yet somewhat over exaggerated. We all know that this punch is an iconic part of hyd and for Domyouji to duck and reject it is kind of sad. But…he was basically just doing what any other human being would do if someone wanted to punch them….DUCK! It’s kinda like “OH NO! he didn’t let me punch him! he must not love me anymore!” Kinda silly.

Okay, now onto BBF. I will just let you guys know right now. I cried. A lot.

I will say that this part was close to perfect in terms of emotion from lee min ho and especially koo hye sun.

It is extremely heartbreaking how junpyo won’t even look her in the eyes the whole time. lee min ho did a great job with not showing any emotion. Something he says that’s really heartbreaking is when he finally looks at her, he says:

“What is it that you want? Surely not, ‘I’m sorry’, ‘Forgive me’, ‘I’ll be back so wait for me’. What? Were you expecting something like that?” And then Jandi says “Why are you being like this?” and he replies “I’ve just started to wake up to reality, that’s all.”

And then of course there’s that “a stain i want to erase” quote which we all know is EXTREMELY heartbreaking. but yeah, hye sun did a fantastic job with this scene; she can cry so much!

And then in BBF, i love how they show what they’re doing after this scene: jandi goes to cry on a gondala (even MORE crying) and it was definitely really heartbreaking to see her true emotions come out when she was thinking about all the times junpyo and her had together (here’s a video because i don’t feel like screen capping it )

AND THEN I LOVE LOVE LOVE GOO JUN PYO (keep watching after jandi’s scene on the gondala) at the part where he’s telling his mom off. it makes me not hate him after watching him break up with jandi. because we all know it was because his mom made him do it and that he didn’t actually want to, so that makes it even MORE heartbreaking i love when he says:

“I…your SON! She’s the first girl that your son has ever loved.”

How adorable. So that means…

Hana yori dango’s scene was good, but boys before flowers was pretty much perfect. BBF just delivered so much emotion, especially from hye sun and lee min ho did a great job of the whole ignorance and stuff like that.

HYD vs. BBF >>> Recap: 1st time seeing eachother after a long time

Hey guys! sorry i haven’t updated, i’ve been extremely busy and school is starting 2morrow, so that’s not going to make my updates go any faster :/ but any chance i get, i’ll try to post! so right now, i’m going to be reviewing the time where makino/jandi see domyouji/junpyo for the first time since he left her for new york/macao. I really didn’t know how to name this/how to make it shorter, so sorry it’s a long title XD lol.

So here’s a clip of the HYD version of this scene. As usual, i can’t find just the section of this, so this is the whole first part of the 1st episode in HYD2. The scene I’m talking about starts at 51:15

And then, as usual, i’m able to find a smaller part of BBF that i’m looking for (not a whole 54 minute episode -.-). The scene i’m talking about takes place in episode 13 and starts at 9:36

Alright, so let’s start with BBF. I think the fact that junpyo is with a girl when jandi sees him is really heartbreaking. I know that if i had a bf and he dissapeared and i find him with another girl after 6 months, i would be EXTREMELY jealous (does that make sense? lol).

And the fact that he saw her and ignored her and continued talking with that girl was very heartbreaking. He didn’t even talk to her or acknowledge her. WHY, goo jun pyo???? (well, i do know why….but not when i watched it ^_^)

Next, onto HYD. For me, this scene was so beatiful and touching. I love the music and i love how everything was in slow motion. Inoue Mao and Matsumoto Jun both did a FANTASTIC job with this scene. There was just so much passion in it that you could feel just by looking at the expression on their faces.

Maybe this was just me, but my heart started beating faster when i saw this scene. I loved Makino’s wide-eyed expression and Domyouji’s shocked face was perfect as well. You really get the feeling that this is the first time they’ve seen each other in a whole year. And, in case you don’t remember this because it’s not in the video i attatched, but Domyouji does talk to Makino completely tells her to just buzz off She’s also able to see what he’s turned into (aka, a working businessman with no feelings at all…or so she things ;])

For that reason,

Hana yori dango wins! I think the reason why this scene is so special is really because of the great acting jobs of inoue mao and matsujun. Hye Sun and Min ho did a good job too, but nothing really compared to mao and jun. And in case you guys didn’t catch this, mao and jun spent a whole minute staring at each other in that scene and in bbf, i felt the scene just went by too fast and didn’t have as much “passion” that was in hyd.

So that concludes this post. this means the current standing in the HYD vs. BBF battle is 8 to 7. One quick thing to mention…

Hey guys, sorry this isn’t a VS but i have to address something that came up.

Someone started commenting on my blog yesterday and i was really excited because i encourage you guys, the readers, to comment and leave your opinions. But the way she commented was not so nice, accussing me of being a biased person and telling me basically what the content of my articles should be. The reason why i started to create this blog was because

1. i was curious to see, according to my opinions, which would be the better drama
2. i wanted to share my opinions
3. i wanted people to appreciate the work i was putting in trying to find screen caps and videos so everyone could enjoy
4. so i could meet other HYD and BBF fans and converse with them about my 2 favorite dramas (one of my favorite things to do is discuss dramas with my friends :])

I DEFNITELY don’t mind you guys contradicting my opinions. For example, Mamae made a comment a while back on my HYD vs. BBF >>> Fiancee Kiss post and she didn’t agree with my original opinion, but she said it in a very nice way that didn’t totally bash me and degrade me.

 I could get (and kinda am) really angry at the comments, but i don’t want to cause an argument because i just don’t need that right now and it’s not the adult thing to do. I also want to point out that these are my opinions and i understand that everyone’s not going to be satisfied with them. I make sure that i ask you guys for your opinions, but please, do it in a nice way that doesn’t make me feel like crap.

As of now, i’m not exactly motivated to continue this blog, but i’m trying not to let those comments get to me, so i will continue and i want to complete this blog. I think the comments are starting to get less-angry-like (lol, definitely not a word, but i’m gonna use it anyways :]) but i just wanted to make this post so you can kind of see where i’m getting at.

Right now i think this is a good time to thank you guys, especially SSK2, mamae and soundslovely :] You’re comments definitely make my day

sorry if in this post, i sound like a mean, over-caring, sensitive person but i was taught to stick up for what i believe in, but i don’t want to start an argument. HYD vs. BBF >>> Recap: Fiancee kisses (UPDATED!)

Hey guys! so i don’t have a lotta screen caps for this posst, but i was THANKFULLY able to find a screen cap of shigeru kissing domyouji and i was just about to give up, when i finally came across one :] yay. anyways i DO have video’s for u guys to watch these scenes :] so let’s get to it.

Alright, so i couldn’t find one of just the kiss for HYD, so i just have the whole episode 3. treat urself by watching the other parts of episode 3 that u might’ve liked (like domyouji running out of the dinner to go to makino ^_^)

and now for BBF. I was able to find a portion of just the kissing scene itself.

alright! so let me just straight to it. we all know it. that whole open eyed kissing thing is plain AWKWARD! i mean, that is really creepy. I understand where lee min ho was going with it; he wanted to make it seem like he didn’t really want to, so he didn’t really get into it, but that is just reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally weird and scary at the same time.

However, something i liked in BBF was how Jihoo protected jandi from seeing the kiss. and hye sun did the whole shocked act perfectly.

In HYD, i found it more heartbreaking because Domyouji was supposed to be meeting Makino, but he “brought” Shigeru along and kissed her. and Makino was there to witness it all (no rui to protect her). It was also heartbreaking because domyouji looked like he enjoyed it and it was an actual legit kiss. HOWEVER! based on my friends at the LSS forms, they’ve talked about how domyouji is actually kissing the corner of her mouth and shigeru is kissing the corner of his mouth. so TECHNICALLY they’re not acutally kissing. but i’m not sure. i’ll let you guys decide :]

So in the end, i’d have to say……

i think hana yori dango wins. however it was a tough one, i might change this one too (please let me know ur thoughts if u think i got the wrong one). But overall, it was basically because a) domyouji looked like he enjoyed kissing her, and makino was watching full on. when i watched it, i was like “NOOOOOOO!” lol and b) lee min ho’s kiss was just plain AWKWARD! haha

Sorry this post is really short, i was debating whether or not to take this section out of the mix, but i decided to go with it anyways. so for the first time, i’m going to CHANGE my thoughts. I was thinking about it last night after i posted this, and mamae’s comment on this just kinda confirmed my thoughts. I’m changing my answer to say that

so i watched the whole kissing part in bbf again, and i realized that junpyo’s back is turned to jandi, so she can’t see this whole awkward eye open thing. And i think jandi had a better reaction to the kiss because she actually started crying, whereas makino was just like “eh?” and i aboslutely love how jihoo shields jandi

HYD vs. BBF >>> Shigeru vs. Jae Kyung

Hey guys! So I’m taking a break for a little while from the recaps and starting to review the characters themselves. The decisions are definitely starting to get harder! And in case you guys don’t remember, in my last post, i said i was moving/deleting files off my computer which included these episodes. they were moved to a larger server so if i wanted to get them, i’d have to go through a big process BUT ANYWAYS the point is, there won’t be a lot of (good) screencaps in this post :/ sorry, but i’m trying my best with google images! so lets begin :]

i’m going to start with the party when the engagement was first announced (BY THE WAY, GUYS: i’m thinking of have a review of hyd vs. bbf >>> recap: the birthday party. is this a good idea? comment and let me know :] thanks)

So in HYD, there’s this part where the mom is like “so who will be the fiancee for domyouji?” and theres a spotlight that’s like, cruising the crowd with a drumroll in the back and it stops on makino, but then quickly turns to shigeru. i thought that was quite mean or the mom to do, but anyways. Shigeru’s stuffing her face with food when the spotlight stops on her (attractive, right?). so she gets called to the stage and she thinks it’s a joke and then she randomly decides she wants to play the piano. her singing was….okay. wasn’t horrendous but wasn’t amazing either. it was just plain awkward.

and then in BBF, Jae Kyung is just screaming as body guards bring her into the hall where junpyo’s “birthday” is taking place (pretty stiff for a bday party if u ask me.)

(btw, i’d like to mention that little cavity thing that jun pyo has. i’ve noticed it in a few other episodes O_O) So i looooove jun’s face in that shot. it’s totally a classic “EH?” shot of jun. But yeah i thought the whole biting of the ear thing was extremely awkward and unneccessary. there’s also another picture of shigeru that i love…

lol. good stuff. okay, next item of discussion. I like how in BBF, Junpyo and Jae Kyung meet before the announcement of the engagement. It kind of strengthen’s the relationship between them/makes it more heartbreaking cuz Jae Kyung falls for him and likes the idea of the engagement.

there was also an awkward moment where junpyo caught jaekyung in like a dip sorta formation. it was quite awkward if i do say so myself.

So in both HYD and BBF, shigeru/jaekyung just thinks it’s okay to invite herself over for a random sleepover. In BBF, it’s quite heartbreaking because Jae Kyung wants to talk about boys and stuff that girls would normally talk about at a sleepover. So she talks about Junpyo:

“Engagement they say! Any other time i would have started running. But when you look at that guy’s face, my heart begins to sting! Jan di, do you know that feeling? No wait, do you like someone? Like…a first love?”

I would be so jealous if i was jandi and it must be so hard for her to sit there and listen to that. There’s also another time when jaekyung takes ga eul and jandi shopping and she asks jandi to describe junpyo for her and she says: (i’m really into quoting right now! so bear with me :])

“Hauty and self-centered, he’d be dissapointed to take second place to anyone else’s arrogance. He acts like he knows everything, but he’s actually really naive,” she pauses to think. “Also, when he likes something… he’ll ignore everyone else’s opinions and stubbornly go after it. Like a bulldozer,” she pauses again “When he’s angry, he’s incredibly scary. But when he’s good to you…he’s affectionate.”

And then after this statement (and when she says this, it sounds like she misses him) jae kyung is like “JANDI! you’re gonna help me get junpyo!” (paraphrasing). That must be so difficult for jandi!

and let’s talk about these spontaneous dates:

I love jun’s face in the first pic XD he’s like “ew, get the hell away from me.” and junpyo just looks plain unhappy. But this girl needs to learn how to plan! She’ll just pop in and be like “hey, let’s go somewhere! we’re engaged, after all” it’s also really annoying because domyouji/junpyo’s mom approves of her, so they’re free to hang out however they please. It’s cute how in HYD, Jun is thinking about Makino the whole time ^_^

This scene is really difficult to watch i think. Because Shigeru’s like “omg! domyouji just asked me to be his girlfriend” and she has absolutely noooo idea that makino’s still in love with him. So she’s like “oh. that’s great. congratulations.” with tears in her eyes T_T so sad. i admire makino for trying to be happy for her “friend” though. And then there’s a scene (that i couldn’t find screen caps for) where shigeru asked makino who she was gonna give valentine gifts to and makino stays silent. shigeru’s like “don’t tell me it’s domyouji. You congratulated me, right? you said you were happy for me.” It’s annoying when people do that. when they make you feel guilty for something you said to try to make them happy. UGH! infuriating.

AND I COULDN’T FIND SCREENCAPS when shigeru like, tries to -ahem- “seduce” domyouji, but that’s just awkward so maybe it’s a good thing. I absolutely love how domyouji tells shigeru that he’s still in love with makino. on the inside, i was like ‘YES! GO DOMYOUJI!!!!” but then shigeru and jae kyung were being immature little girls and being like “LALALALALA! CAN’T HEAR YOUUUU!!!” *rolls eyes* whatever. AND THEN there’s the part where shigeru/jae kyung lies and says that they slept together. pshhhht as if. annoying.

Okay, this post is getting lengthy and i want to finish by tonight…so in the end…i think in the end….hmmm…THIS IS HARD :/ …uhhhh…..

I think jae kyung wins. I might go back and think about this a bit more cuz it’s harder than i thought. But i think it’s more agonizing to watch because she dragged it on RIGHT TO THE ALTER! where as shigeru just stopped it at a dinner. And i also think it’s more annoying to watch jaekyung because she doesn’t know about jandi’s love fore junpyo (and vice versa) until later on. Shigeru kinda knew that domyouji and makino had a thing for each other so it was kinda like “oh. okay. OBVIOUSLY they aren’t gonna get together” but when i was watching BBF, they really had me hanging!

HYD vs. BBF >>> Recap: the First Kiss

Hey guys! So this is the 10 post in the HYD vs. BBF war. So far, the scor is 5 to 4. As you may or may not have remembered, i’m deleting my hyd and bbf episodes (T_T) and moving them to a server so i can have more disc space. This means that it’ll be a lot more complicated when i want to get screen caps and things like that. So sorry if that puts a delay on any of my updates! Okay, i think that’s it, let’s get straight to it!

Guys, i’m SOO HAPPY! i was able to find videos for you guys :] so here is the hana yori dango video. it’s basically just the whole last part, so hopefully you don’t mind watching the bits before it

 

And then here’s the Boys Before Flowers video :] Like HYD, it’s just the last part of the episode, so for this one, you might have to skip a little bit (although i do reccommend watching the beginning part where junpyo want’s jandi to say “oppa, i’m sowwy”) haha anyways, the actually start of the kiss scene is at 11:12 (sorry for kinda-ish bad quality :/)

Let me start with BBF.

So, as you can see from the video, gu jun pyo decorated the playground in twinkle lights as an apology to jandi. First off, let me create a quick diagram to show the flow of the conversation.

Pretty twinkle lights > looks like Christmas > junpyo doesn’t like christmas > bad family problems > junpyo likes visiting jandi’s family >he wants to go everyday > KISS!

now i don’t know about you guys, but that is one of the weirdest ways to get to a kiss. I think there were so many other opportunites to kiss and it would have been a better situation than this one. It’s like “in actuality, i want to visit your family everyday” oh wow, this seems like a romantic situation, let me just kiss her *KISS*. not exactly the greates build-up to the climax. not to mention, everyday in korean sounds like “mei mei” which is kinda awkward to say (sorry if the spelling’s off, i’m not korean!).

However, i will say that the gesture goo jun pyo did by decorating the whole playground for her was cute. and the fact that he was apologizing was amazing. and it’s cute how he puts his hands on her waist ^_^

alright, now onto hana yori dango. So this whole last part of the episode starts with Domyouji giving Makino a Saturn necklace. And lets talk about that adorable letter he wrote her. I love when he says “But before i knew it, i started liking you. Maybe i started to fall for you the first time we met.” so cute. it’s kinda one of those moments where you look back at it and say “wow, he had feelings for her then.” (if that makes sense)

And then the whole Makino running with an airplane (and actually keeping up…) to talk to Domyouji is just …EPIC!

This scene/moment is just perfect because Makino is FINALLY confessing her love for Domyouji. I absolutely love how Domyouji suddenly hugs her while shes saying that he’s stupid, but she still loves him. This is also one of the very cute things Domyouji says in this scene:

“But, even now, even in the future, even way in the future, you’ll always be the only girl I’d ever approve of. I’m going to be with you, Makino.”

SOOOOOO CUTE! who knew domyouji was such a romantic :] And let’s not even talk about the whole sun effect thing. just made it sooo much cuter. the only thing i didn’t like about that effect was that we couldn’t see their lips i’m the type of person that likes to see these kinda things ^_^ lol.

So, in the end…

hana yori dango wins! This scene is SOO iconic and just untouchable. It’s completely perfect. It’s a scene that they reference quite a few times in HYD2 and even the final movie. It’s that scene that shows you where it all started and (i didn’t want to talk about HYD2, but i have to) it’s so heartbreaking when there’s the adorable/perfect scene and then in HYD2, Domyouji pretends like nothing happens (especially after that quote! >:O) but that’s besides the point. I will say that BBF did a valient effort, but in the end, there wasn’t anything that was extraordinarily special about it because they were just talking about family stuff. But in HYD, they were confessing their love for eachother so it’s just PERRRRFEEECCTTT!

Once again thanks for reading! i’m so glad i was able to get videos, especially for this kind of epic scene! This means the current standing in the HYD vs. BBF battle is 7 to 5 (oh my! hana yori dango has taken a 2 point lead :O). lol.
